In the course of representing family law clients, I provide legal services in several collateral fields of law, including the following:
Therapist Representation/Health Care Law: I enjoy representing health care professionals caught in the middle of litigation. Whether you are facing a subpoena, privilege and confidentiality issues, testimony, depositions or other legal issue, I help mental health professionals navigate unfamiliar legal territory.
Guardianship: I have represented clients in obtaining a guardian for a loved one who was either a minor or an adult that was mentally incompetent to handle their own affairs. I have also represented clients in cases involving disputes about how to best handle the estate of a family member.
Mediation: I offer private and court ordered mediation services to individuals that wish to resolve their family law or other legal issues themselves with my help outside of court. I act as a neutral party to facilitate the parties' exploration and selection of an agreement to resolve their legal issues. I am certified to mediate cases by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission and I am a member of the North Carolina Association of Professional Family Mediators.
Arbitration: I offer services as an arbitrator for clients that want to present their legal issues to a neutral third party and have that party (me) make a decision in their case. These clients typically want the opportunity to be heard, but prefer to avoid the cost and time of going to court. I also serve as a court appointed arbitrator in the North Carolina District Courts.
